Document your journey

If you are a list geek like me, you will enjoy keeping track of your "reading-the-world" journey. There are numbers of ways to do this! Let me inspire you.

Scratch map

One of my personal favourites is using a scratch map. There is something very satisfying about scratching open a country you visited. Also, the fact that you have a visual reminder hanging on your wall, can be a great motivator to keep going (if you need one).

There are plenty of options available, such as posters in different sizes and colours, but I also found one that is devided in smaller 'pages' that you can keep with your journal.

Map with pins

A variation on the scratch map, is a regular world map with pins or flags. This gives me old school vibes - in a good way! It has the same visual advantages as a scratch map, although it might be a bit more perminent. Or what about a cork map, combined with little red pins (the classical option), or pins with flags on them!

Travel journal or notebook

A travel journal or notebook gives you more options to actualy document your journey. I like to learn about the country I'm about to visit before I start a book, and I write down what I want to remember, or what stands out to me. Of course this is also the perfect place to write down quotes from, or thoughts about the book you are reading.

If you keep a bullet journal, you can design a spread where you track your progress, make a list of the books you read or books on your "TBR" (To Be Read). The possibilities are endless!

Mobile app

Recently I discovered an app that you can use to keep track of the countries you have visited. It was probably designed for physical travels, but hey, who will stop you from using it for your bookish travels? The one I'm using is called Skratch but I'm sure there are more out there. As you can see on the map below, I still have a long way to go!
